Sweeney Todd and Pink Floyd's "The Wall"?
I recently watched Sweeney Todd a few times, and I really enjoy the movie. Of course, I relate Pink Floyd and the Beatles' philosophies to everything, but I was wondering if anyone noticed a relationship between Sweeney Todd and The Wall. The first thing that made me think about it was the human meat grinder of course, but after that I noticed much more. Johanna talks about not being able to fly, but she is allowed to sing. (Pink Floyd's Mother: "Momma’s gonna keep you right here under her wing - She won’t let you fly, but she might let you sing") Then of course he forsakes his own wife for a Young Lust (Mrs. Lovett), there is a whole theme with the judge (like the Trial?) and throughout the movie, Benjamin Barker follows the worms (Sweeney Todd). Not to mention when Sweeney talks about the wealthy (fascist-like) being on top throughout the movie. I was just curious if anyone else caught onto this or if I am just looking too deep into it.
