old coffee grinder
I need help with making so thermite.?
Ok So this is what i need help with so i already have the rust off some old tools i have but i need help with the powdered aluminum. i have aluminum foil but i don't have a blender or Coffee grinder to make them powder is there any thing else that can make aluminum foil into power.
On 2nd thought i am just going to get the stuff i need off a website and all i want to do is try an experiment nothing big.

That's all you have to say? Because that's RIDICULUS.
how about these points...
1) not every kid in the UK has the recipe to make thermite. That is a generalization and an outright lie.
2) Dakota lives in the United States. Illinois to be precise. Not the UK
3) There are a number of safety issues with an adult making and using thermite at home. Dakota isn't an adult. He's 13 years old.
4) There are a number of potential legal issues that may arise for Dakota if in fact Dakota does manage to make and ignite his thermite.

a) 720 ILCS 5/20-1 defines arson as damage to property in excess of $150 as the result of a fire without the owners permission. class II felony
b) 720 ILCS 5/20-1.2 defines residential arson as arson of a residential dwelling. Class I felony
c) 720 ILCS 5/20-2(a) defines possession of incendiary devices as a possessing, manufacturing, transporting, igniting any incendiary device with the intent of commiting any offense. Class I felony.(note that wording? "any offense?")
d) 720 ILCS 5/26-1(a)(1) defines the offense of disorderly conduct as any act performed in a unreasonable manner that alarms or disturbs another which provokes a breach of peace.
5) did you read any of Dakota's other answers? He asked about obtaining an AK-47 assault rifle. Nazis. Making his own army. And Hitler youth groups.
If I assume Dakota is innocently experimenting with chemisty and he manages to make and ignite his thermite, but hurts himself or burns down his house accidently in the process, then yes...he could be charged with multiple counts including felonies. That's prison time.
But you never know about people asking questions here on YA. Because Dakota may just be planning an attack on his schoolmates.
Moreover, if you truly were a chemistry instructor at a college and a part time manager of a law firm, you would have better sense than to help some kid make dangerous chemical compounds outside of a controlled environment. Somewhere along the line you would have developed some ethics and would realize that although you may know how to do something, like make thermite, sometimes you probably shouldn't actually do it. Or help others do it.
Since you haven't learned that lesson, I do not believe you are a professional scientist nor an attorney.
One last comment. If someone here is asking for help building bombs or incendiary devices or whatever, that means they can't figure out to do it on their own. You just enabled this kid by giving him the information he didn't have. If anything goes wrong, you're responsible, not his parents. Because he's not telling them what he's up to. He's telling you. And you are helping him to create a dangerous compound.
