Any ideas on how to decorate around a wall mounted flat screen TV?
My husband is getting a 50 in flat screen for Christmas. He wants to mount it on the wall. Any ideas of how to decorate around/under it?? I'm afraid the wall is going to look bare with only the TV there.
A low storage unit below the tv will suffice to contain your electronics (satellite receiver, dvd, surround sound, etc...). I do not suggest having much for pictures or anything too busy around the tv. Keep it simple and plainly decorated so as not to have the eye wandering away from the focus of the tv when watching it. The tv should not be located too high on the wall (common mistake). A simple piece of metal artwork or nothing above the tv will be fine. You can place your artwork and family/friends pictures on other walls/accent tables. Try having the tv wiring contained in the wall for neatness if possible.

Is there such a thing as a wall mounted monitor?
Is there such a thing as a wall mounted monitor?
I don't know if this thing exists, but I figure I'd ask. I would like a large computer monitor that I could mount on the wall. It would need a cord long enough to reach about 6-10 feet (or be able to work wirelessly.)
Is there such a thing or is it wishful thinking?
Instead of trying to wall mount an LCD monitor, why don't you buy a 1080p (1920x1080) LCD TV and have it wall mounted? A friend recently bought a 32" 1080p TV to play World of Warcraft and that monitor replaced his two 23" LCD monitors. With a native resolution of 1080p, you should be fine on the resolution front. Make sure whatever monitor you buy displays text nicely - either way at 6-10 feet, you can bump the DPI (dots per inch) a bit and comfortably read the text.
Get a wireless mouse + keyboard combo in order to ensure freedom of movement. Try shopping for 32" to 37" monitors and see how text looks on them - I recommend carrying a laptop and asking a store to see if you can connect your laptop to the TV and see how it looks from a distance. Alternatively, a local store can connect one of their laptops to the TVs you want and see how it looks. I personally have a 42" LCD (weird 1366x768 native resolution and I managed to get a 1216x768 resolution) and text looks readable at 6 feet - if you get a true 1080p TV, you wont run into all the problems I ran into (blurry text, non-standard resolution requiring a lot of tweaking).
